This Berlin-based food company is one of the few that has revolutionized the way we eat. But as the pandemic dominates the world, HelloFresh is also one of those food companies affected.
One of the adjustments they need to undergo is the payment process. So, does HelloFresh take food stamps? Let’s find out.
Does Hello Fresh Accept Food Stamps?
No. Food Stamps or SNAP Food Benefits are currently not acceptable in HelloFresh.
While the store didn’t say anything about it, many food companies do not accept Food stamps because they need to renew their license Electronic Benefits Transfer debit card program.
However, HelloFresh has other payment method options such as credit cards (all major credit cards – VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) and PayPal.

What Payment Methods Does Hello Fresh Accept?
Major Credit Cards
HelloFresh accepts all credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). You must provide valid payment information on the Site or App to order from an Account.
By ordering through your Account, you agree and authorize your payment method to be charged for all fees and taxes.
HelloFresh can also charge alternative payment methods if your primary method is declined or unavailable.

PayPal
HelloFresh also accepts payments via PayPal. If you want to sign up using PayPal, this will be an option when you check out.
You can also change your mode of payment to PayPal at any time during your subscription. Follow these steps to make this change. Access your HelloFresh Account.
Hover over your username on the right side of the screen and select ‘Account.’ You will be taken to your ‘Plan Settings’ page. Scroll down to ‘Payment Method’ and press the ‘Edit’ button.

Does Hello Fresh Take EBT?
No, HelloFresh does not take EBT as a payment method at the moment.
HelloFresh is a well-known meal company that helped many people with their meal plans worldwide.
But, they don’t currently accept food stamps and do not actively engage in the federal pilot program that allows EBT cardholders to make online purchases.
Does Hello Fresh Plan To Take Food Stamps In The Future?
Yes. HelloFresh mentioned that they plan to develop the payment system and add other payment methods in the future, but nothing about EBT was mentioned. [1]

How Does The Payment For HelloFresh Work?
The payment for HelloFresh is via a flexible weekly subscription service that works online.
When you sign up for the HelloFresh service, you are automatically scheduled to receive a box every week.
You will be charged in full five full days before the day that your delivery is scheduled to take place.
Why Does Hello Fresh Not Take Food Stamps?
HelloFresh did not say anything about this payment method issue. But HelloFresh is not the only company that does not accept food stamps. [2]
According to a news article, this is because those retail stores have to renew a license or permit for the EBT debit card program and did not meet a deadline before the shutdown.
These renewals are due every five years and are currently on hold.

In short, HelloFresh does not accept Food Stamps or EBT at the moment, but they have plans to accept this mode of payment in the future.
Currently, HelloFresh accepts payments via all major credit cards and PayPal via their app. As of now, SNAP recipients cannot make purchases on HelloFresh.
There is still hope for those who use Food Stamps or EBT because Top Box accepts EBT, and the USDA is working with EBT grocery delivery.

If you were to accept EBT SNAP the United States nutrition program, you would increase your American domestic customer base tremendously I’m sure of it.
I increasingly see Twitch streamers taking on a sponsorship with you but the sales are seemingly stagnant. If the streamers were able to add “EBT ACCEPTED” on their tag you would increase sales with them alone to make it worthwhile to you and becoming an trusted food source for years to come.
Just for the record, by Hello Fresh not accepting EBT is the only obstacle for me to enjoy some of your services.
Although, looking at the big picture, I don’t know if pricing would make it a prudent choice for someone on such a strict budget.
