Costco lobster tails are always available online. We didn’t have a hard time processing our orders. Online purchases are a big help, especially for those who don’t have time to shop.

But, because you’ll receive the package via delivery services, the ETA is sometimes inaccurate. So you better order ahead of time.

Price Point

Rating: 7/10

The cost at Costco includes delivery and shipping. There are three to four lobster tails in each pound. We received about 21 lobster tails.

However, almost $300 looks incredibly pricey, but it’s no wonder that lobster tails are pricey.

Taste & Texture

 Rating: 9/10

They didn’t taste or smell fishy, even if it’s not fresh and frozen, which is vital to us. They were juicy, salty, savory, and just plain delicious.

They were also relatively simple to remove from the shell. We ordered lobster tail plain and lobster tail with melted butter. They were both delicious.

Packaging & Convenience

Rating: 5/10

Regarding convenience, lobster tails were packaged in one open bag inside a large box with a styrofoam cooler.

The dry ice in the cooler with the lobster tails was almost gone when the box was delivered.

However, cooking lobster tail is not that easy to cook because of the tendency of the meat to stick to the shell, making it hard to remove.

Nutritional Facts

Rating: 10/10

Less than 100 calories per lobster tail, 14 grams of protein, less than 1 gram of fat, and 0 grams of carbs make lobster tails calorie-efficient.

You will have a lot more calories and fat if you add oil or butter.

Types of Lobster Tails

Warm Water from Brazil

Warm Water Lobster Tails from Brazil are known to have tender and tasty meat. This is because meat from lobster tails that have lived in a warm environment is soft and delicious.

These smooth, speckled, greenish-colored warm water lobster tails, often known as spiny lobsters, are found amid rocks, on reefs, and in eelgrass beds. [1]

Cold Water from the USA

The American lobster often called the Maine or Canadian lobster, is said to be the most well-liked of all the lobster species. It is colorful and has large claws.

“Food brings people together on many different levels. It’s the nourishment of the soul and body; it’s true love.”

– Giada De Laurentiis, Italian American Chef

Because of the extreme cold, the meat in cold-water lobster is significantly firmer and cooks into tenderness. It has a sweet, subtle fish taste.

Difference Between Warm Water & Cold Water Lobster Tails

The warm-water lobster is less sweet and delicate than the cold-water lobster. Warm-water lobster has firmer meat and a stronger seafood flavor than cold-water lobster tails.

Their flavors which are undoubtedly both delicious and enjoyable, also have a difference. Cold-water lobsters are less tasty than lobsters raised in warm climates. [2]

How to Cook Costco Lobster Tails

After purchasing, you can grill, bake, broil, steam, boil, bake, or even smoke lobster tails.

The easiest way to prevent the lobster tails from clinging to the shell if you’re unsure which procedure to use is to boil them.

After thawing your lobster tail, stick a skewer to them, pour your preferred ingredients into the tails, and boil them together for 10-13 minutes (depending on tail sizes).
