Food stamps and government assistance programs like EBT or SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) greatly relieve low-income families.
Through these food stamps, buying food items would not be a problem anymore. You can have food security by having a monthly spending allowance.
But does Restaurant Depot take EBT as payment? To know more about the scope of EBT and what Restaurant Depot has to offer, read on.
Does Restaurant Depot Accept EBT?
No, Restaurant Depot does not accept EBT cards or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as means of payment.
Restaurant Depot was not accepted by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), which controls and supervises SNAP.
USDA authorizes eligible stores with staple food inventory, food sales, and other eligibility considerations to take EBT transactions. But it doesn’t include prepared foods, hot foods, or accessory foods.
On the contrary, Restaurant Depot is not available to the general public. It’s a wholesale cash-and-carry membership-only club that is open to non-profit organizations.
Restaurant Depot is a one-stop shop accessible to people in the food service industry, such as in food stalls, restaurants, bakers, and chefs.
What Does Restaurant Depot Offer?
Restaurant Depot is a wholesale cash-and-carry foodservice distributor. It offers a huge selection of food supplies, ingredients, and kitchenware at lower prices than other stores.
Restaurant Depot sells in-store products such as condiments, flours, powders, and a selection of meat, seafood, and dairy products.
It now offers available kitchen equipment products and supplies for sale online in selected branches. They retail most for independent restaurants, caterers, and non-profits in bulk at competitive pricing.
Restaurant Depot has no minimum purchase requirements, and many items are available for members to purchase by piece, case, or bulk at low prices.
Even though Restaurant Depot sells some qualified food under the SNAP program, you can’t still use your EBT card on their in-store products and Restaurant Depot website. But why can’t I find any diet Dr Pepper in stores?
Restaurant Depot Payment Options
Restaurant Depot’s common payment methods are cash, debit cards, and credit cards. They accept major credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover.
Restaurant Depot accepts checks as payment, but it should have prior approval and identification done ahead through the store’s checkout process.
While you can use the following payment methods above, Restaurant Depot does not accept checks, wire transfers, or money orders for products online.
Online orders should be settled in full at the time of purchase. Also, they don’t accept Purchase Orders as means of payment since they rely on real-time pricing. Find out if Jimmy John’s has hot sandwiches here.
What Food Stamps Do They Accept?
Unfortunately, Restaurant Depot doesn’t accept EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) cards and food stamps as means of payment.
But alternative food chain outlets such as KFC, Del Taco, Burger King, and Subway take EBT. Under SNAP Restaurant Meals Program (RMP), it would take EBT cards in food chains for certain individuals.
These individuals are people above 60 years or older, disabled, homeless, and a legal partner of a SNAP client eligible for the RMP.
However, restaurants or food chains will only take food stamps if a state participates in the Restaurant Meals Program.
Where Can You Use EBT/Food Stamps?
You can use EBT cards or food stamps through all SNAP-eligible products in stores or online. It’s a food aid that functions as a normal debit card.
But you can only buy food and other qualified items aligned with the card-based distribution system.
Some grocery stores and shops now permit paying for groceries on-site and online using your EBT card. It might not include delivery fees and other charges because you may buy only qualified food with SNAP payments.
A transaction with an EBT card will automatically be declined if the SNAP items are not eligible. You can pay and settle with cash or another form of payment for unqualified items.
What can you not buy using EBT?
You can’t buy alcohol, wine, beer, cigarettes, and tobacco products. Medicines, vitamins, and supplements are also prohibited.
Also, non-food items such as house supplies, cleaning products, pet foods, hygiene items, and cosmetics are not eligible for SNAP purchase.
Do fast food chains accept EBT?
Yes. Most fast food chains accept EBT cards under Restaurant Meals Program. Fast-food restaurants should be in a state with an RMP to qualify. It should have a signed agreement from the state to accept SNAP benefits.
Restaurant Depot potential shoppers might be curious if it’s applicable for the SNAP program and does Restaurant Depot take EBT card.
But even though most people consider this a supermarket, Restaurant Depot does not accept EBT cards.
EBT card work for an eligible person that qualifies under the SNAP program. You can use EBT or food stamps benefits to purchase food, but not alcohol, medicines, and non-food items.
Whether buying your next grocery or getting some food, always check the eligible food items and qualified food chains. Otherwise, you have to pay for it from your wallet.
